Why is it,
that I never hear of a political debate until the day after it happens? Unless of course it's on a channel I don't have.

I noticed while going thru the cable guide, however, there were a couple other shows I wanted to catch so I couldn't watch the debate. There was no advertizing of it that I know of. From the reports, it sounded worth seeing. I like it when they are on PBS because they repeat the show for people with different schedules.

In RUSSIA, before communisim, people could leave a job but only at the end of the year for farming and at that time no one was hiring. So they couldn't really leave.

jj Gudat: the immitation, when you can have the real thing??
As a New York State voter, I KNOW what Hillary is all about. It ain't listening to her constituents! She doesn't do 'town hall meetings', she doesn't respond to e-mails(xcept computer generated), 90% of the time you call her, you get a recorder!
I have written to Barack twice, after Katrina, and again no response!
Do you really believe just because these two are adopting Edwards language, positions, and issues during an election, to get elected, that they'll follow thru IF either of them get into office????
Sorry Thom not all politicians will follow the parade, some are too busy doing the work of the special interests, and lobbiests that gave them the money to get elected!
Please give us your 'take' on Barack's comments about Reagan, and Krugman's comments on Racheal Maddows show that Barack is Right of Hillary on ecomomic policey. (Thurs. Jan 17th show)

By Andie927January 22, 2008 - 2:29pmAre our jobs disapearing so that...
Thom talked about protecting U.S. manufacturing and the jobs that go with it.
Could it be our manufacturing jobs are disappearing so that there's only one thing left for us to do?
And that one thing left for Americans might be this: The U.S.A.'s function in the New World Order is to keep the order part; we, as the service agency in charge of policing/military/and that sneaky word "security", are left no more choice. Each segment of the New World Order must be kept dependent on other segments, so none has any self-sustaining capability; so we would be denied anything outside the corporate hold as to agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, energy sources (which accounts for stranglehold on seeds, everyday goods, natural remedies (outside the Big Pharma offerings), energy alternatives like everready sunshine (rather than Big Oil's products).

By noraJanuary 22, 2008 - 4:35pmObama stoops to kiss the hem of Reagan's robe?
Obama's phrase "excesses of the 60s and 70s" makes me question his full conceptualization of his role in American history in juxtaposition to the Reagan Revolution. Does Obama want to launch a progressive counterrevolution or is he just going to finesse a popularity that results in an era of compromising away even more hard won liberal attainments?!
We need MORE clarity from Barack. Even his past book statements aren't enough for me now because we are living in times where politicians are changing position quite often. I DON'T WANT TO FIND OUT AFTER THE ELECTION THAT OBAMA CHANGED HIS MIND IN JANUARY '08 BUT NO ONE ASKED HIM A DIRECT QUESTION ABOUT HIS REAGAN COMMENTS SO HE NEVER TOLD US!
When Obama used the word "excesses" he was referring to progressives directly. I wouldn't be concerned if he had been referring instead to the Republicans, for example the excess of Nixon saying, "When a president does it, it is not illegal." But Obama was not referring to the excesses of the Reactionaries!
One thing I learned about Obama this last week is that he wants to put on Reagan's old shoes and be called "The Great Communicator", but just couldn't hack it because he botched it so bad everybody was trying to figure out what the heck he meant. I heard four progressive radio show hosts reinterpreting his words, attempting to spin Barack's gaff for him. Really pitiful when the next Great communicator failed to make clear what he was saying!
NOTE: The Corporate Media is not helping to clarify the issues. Back in the 1960s and 1970s newspaers would have run tables and flowcharts showing a comparison of candidates' voting records and positions and promises, platforms, planned policies. NOT ANY MORE EVIDENTLY. The Corporate Media shows no desire to help voters sort out this muddle!!
