impressions and cars
HI Ron
Your impression of a president reading pardons was right on, but I'm afraid that with that twangy accent, you were channelling your dad, not George Bush.
Never mind who killed the electric car, where the heck is that flying car the Jetsons promised me when I was a kid?

By Lunare1November 24, 2008 - 8:49pmSpacely Sprockets and Cogswell Cogs manipulated history
Jetson was laid off leaving no market for sprockets and cogs. Mr. Spacely went bawling to the government for a hand-out.But the government already was supporting George's retraining, Green Earth Policy, and the cheaper Space Elevator. There were no funds left and wary prospects for Spacely and Cogswell's obsolete, sloppy business practices.

By aaazzz111November 24, 2008 - 9:27pmKudos on Chris Paine Interview
Ron... I was very pleased to hear you have Chris Paine on the show this evening. It's a shame you don't have more time to go into the topic of green transportation more fully. I hope you'll consider doing more shows in the future to talk about what I like to call "The Future In Motion." Plug-in cars are a significant part of the solution, but not the entire story, which we try to cover on EV World.com (www.evworld.com). I know this is a shameless plug, but hey, Chris is one of my editorial board advisors. :-)
Keep up the good work.

By evworldeditorNovember 24, 2008 - 9:05pmAir America Cruise
Mr. Reagan,
My family and I were thrilled to find out we were on the same cruise as the Air America cruise. I still cannot believe that as my family and I were walking to our stateroom the day we left port we ran into you. I don't know if you remember but I was the one that asked you "Are you Ron Reagan?" and I shook your hand and said what an honor it was to meet you. It was so nice because you asked us if we were going to the evacuation drill later on. Later on that evening I explained to my son that I met the son of the President of the United States when I was his age. He was amazed that I was able to meet you. Anyway, my family and I really wanted to try and get a picture with you while we were on the cruise but did not want to bother you or Mr. Hart or Rachel Maddow while she was on board. To make a long story short is there any way I can get an autographed picture of you? Also, is there any way you can get an autographed picture of Rachel Maddow for my wife? My father-in law also ended up hooking up with a bunch of the guests of the Air America cruise and had a wonderful time. His wife (my wifes mother) had recently passed away in June and he still really wanted to go on this cruise and I am glad we all did. Just meeting you was one of the highlights of this cruise. Please let me know if you can do any of these requests. Keep up the good work all of you, I can't wait to see what the next four years are going to bring us.
Respectfully,
Bob Olson

By bolson75November 24, 2008 - 11:00pmcar bailout alternative
I recommend that instead of a "gift" to the big 3 "we" create an stimulus program where everyone with a car that makes less than 15 miles to the gallon can turn in that car (to be crushed) and get a rebate (say about ~$5,000 to 10,000) and a government backed loan for the difference toward the purchase of any car that makes at least 30 miles per gallon. For $20 Billion we could eliminate 2 to 4 Million of the worst cars. This would improve the air, lower our dependence on foreign oil, impact global warming, stimulate the economy and reward the car companies for making the "right" kind of cars.
