What price is life?

By Ron Reagan

Listen: Ron Reagan: Does Bush count as an "intelligence failure?"

Tonight:

In these harsh economic times, we're looking at the cost of healthcare when you're really ill. Gardiner Harris, Public Health reporter for The New York Times, joins me on the line from DC to talk about his latest article. Followed by Dr. Oliver Fein, President of Physicians for a National Health Program (an organization of 15,000 doctors who support single-payer national health insurance as the solution to our country’s health care woes) -- Fein is also professor of Clinical Medicine and Clinical Public Health at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and will share a physician's perspective on these issues: If it's the case that our insurance companies “triage” the sick, what will happen when/if the US adopts universal healthcare? Why are some drugs prohibitively expensive? Why is Viagra so cheap while life-saving drugs are so costly?

And later, your calls.

866 – 303 – 2270 IS THE NUMBER TO CALL-IN FOR YOU LISTENERS OUT THERE.

Congratulations, Georgia.

Your state wins the goofball award of 2008. You bought the lies of Chamblis. You cheered when this asshole lied to you about what universal healthcare means.

Who wants the government to make it possible for you to go to any licensed physician that you choose in the USA, because national healthcare means just that.

Do you prefer to get permission from a non-medical bean-counter to choose from a small list of "preferred providers" within a small section of a county within a single state, when National healthcare means a for-profit insurance companies can no longer refuse to cover your emergent medical condition because it happened to occur outside of their minute coverage area?

I don't want the government allowing me to choose to go to any doctor I please, I want someone that stands to get a $30,000/year dollar bonus, to severely limit my medical access to a small coverage area, so they can stand a chance to fuck me over on my policy by providing me with ridiculous hoops to jump through.

I want US only medical costs to continue to spiral out of control, because 30 cents of every healthcare dollar pads the pockets of millionaires, so they can pay the mortgage on their 5th vacation home.

What exactly doesn't register with you folks in Georgia, when, not the actual cost of medical care, but just the premiums on for-profit healthcare plans are unaffordable?

The only people that can afford medicine in America are millionaires, and they don't need health insurance to begin with, so they don't understand why formerly well-paid manufacturing workers now scraping by on Walmart wages, need it. Nor do they give a shit if you ever do. They just want to continue to collect dividends from Big Pharma stocks due to over-priced pharmaceuticals. or from for-profit health insurance stocks whose companies are allowed to run all over you.

So, cheer away, Georgia. Your chickenhawk, piece of shit, fascist senator thinks he has a mandate to do what the remaining scum from the Republican party have done over 90 times since the Dems took the majority in 2007..... absolutely nothing productive or beneficial to anyone other than millionaires.

You get what you deserve, suckers. hahahahahahahahahaha
