Keith Olbermann: She clearly gives a great speech... as for the content....?

Chris Matthews: Surprised at what I saw. I thought they wanted an alternative to Hillary. Not one time did I think of Hillary, nothing in common. She offered a rejoinder to Obama. A torpedo at the ship of Barack and Michelle. This is a cultural alternative to Obama.

Keith: Condescension toward Obama and the other Dems. Is that the right tone?

Chris: It's a response as if she were playing defense, as Obama did in his speech. Very appealing presentation, people will like her.

One more POW story and I'm going to puke.

.
This speech would make Don Rickles proud. I found myself laughing at all the one liners. I think this was written by Sara Silverman high on Granny's hooch.

You have to admit that she was good at all things we have begged Obama and Biden to do but didn't because they are "above" the fray. She attacked. She mocked them. She questioned their patriotism (a Republican staple). She made you not want to vote for them. She was indeed a pit bull with lipstick, just like she said.

This was the party that whined family was off limits? We now know it's only Republican families that are off limits. I kinda suspected.

However, at the same time, there was no policy. In that sense, it was a cotton candy sugar puff piece. All feel warm fuzzy and gooey inside. It's like when McCain was at Rick Warrens. McCain said, "There is the family with no job, no education, no health insurance and who have lost their home. I know what they need. "Hope" and "confidence"." That's what he said. "Hope" and "confidence". Well, that's what this speech did. That's all it did.

Now here is what makes me nervous. I heard a Republican say Obama uses too many big words. They couldn't follow what he was saying.

If Obama wants to compete with Goober and Otis, and Aunt Bee, he is going to have to get his message across and dumb down a little. If Rick Warren taught us anything, it was don't appear to think too much. It's makes you look like you are planning something. And being black, it looks suspicious.

There other thing. Did you notice how much the camera tried to zoom in on young audience members, but every time they panned out, most of the audience looked older than John McCain?
That was kind of weird. I wonder if they had to leave the walkers at the door? Those are the people that will vote for McCain.

She also left out the evangelical attack on science. That will become an important issue, along with the threat to women's rights. Mathews was right. This was a cultural shot to Obama and to his wife.
