Today's TRMS
We are still in St. Paul at the Republican National Convention. Things are picking up today-- there are actual people walking around! Yes, so darn exciting. Our big celebrity sighting today? Jon Voight.
On today's show Rachel will be talking to Libertarian presidential candidate and former Republican congressman Bob Barr! Rachel is so jealous that he's been to the Ron Paul convention. Maybe he'll sneak us in? Fingers crossed.
And then Rachel welcomes Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak back to the show.

Maverick means character?
Last night Fred tried to equate maverick with character but it just doesn't gel. McCain's resume is filled with examples of poor character, his disregard for his education opportunities, his disregard for his first marriage, his demeaning comments to a republican crowd about a president's daughter too heinous to mention and on and on.
McCain basically threw away his opportunity for a first class education at the naval academy, he proudly boasts that his only regret is that he didn't screw up a little more and become the anchorman of his class. Are we supposed to pat him on the back for this? Fred did. He was a "troublemaker" , is this macho maverick behavior something to be proud of and an example to send to the youth of America regarding education?
McCain doesn't take education seriously, he considers education "elitist". Isn't it a shame that in America, you are being fed the message that this behavior should be lauded? McCain's story should a message of regret about his past behavior. I found very little to be laudable in Fred's presentation except McCain's grit as a POW but as Fred said being a POW doesn't qualify you to be president.
