LISTEN TO AAM CONVENTION SPECIAL THIS WEEKEND -- AUTHORS TURNING THE PAGE
Listen: AUTHORS TURNING THE PAGE
Saturday, 7-10p ET
Sunday 10-1p ET
This week of politics was extraordinary -- from Kennedy's inspiring tribute to the 1-2 punch of the Clintons and from the naming of the entire Biden family as VP to, of course, Obama's soaring and convincing acceptance speech.
Air America contributed our part when, in conjunction with Progressive Book Club, we hosted the most impressive collection of progressive authors...since Ted Sorensen dined alone in the White House mess in 1962. And to understand where that line comes from, you'll have to listen to the special three-hour broadcast of our SRO event at The Big Tent in Denver last Monday.
On a panel of biographers, we heard from Ted Sorensen comparing JFK’s and Obama’s religious and racial challenges, from Michael Eric Dyson about how ML King would have advised Obama and from Jonathan Alter on how FDR connected his campaign and his transition.
Then Thom Hartmann choreographed Paul Krugman, Arianna Huffington, John Podesta and David Sirota about "The Contest", that unending tug-of-war between left and right in America -- i.e. the pretext and context of the Convention.
Last, Anne-Marie Slaughter, Dean of Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School, moderated a panel on "The Next America" -- ok, how do we dig ourselves out of the hole that Bush has gotten us into? Markos Moulitsas, Jane Mayer and Van Jones talk about torture, green collar jobs, the Internet and foreign policy.

Thank You AAR for making this program available
I am glad to have been able to listen to this discussion on-line. I hoped to be able to download it, so I could listen to it off-line with my portable MP3 player, but even without being able to download it, at least I was able to hear this intelligent discussion by some of the best thinkers in the progressive movement.
