Breaking news, evra-buddeh – John McCain has picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. What’s the tactic here? Who is the McCain campaign playing to with this “WTF” pick?
Are we witnessing a rare Republican Machine miscalculation? Or will a healthy dose of soccer-mom spin make this work for McCain?

Seems to me the political
Seems to me the political calculus that's going on here is that by choosing a woman, they can siphon off enough Hillary supporters to pull out a win.
They were probably looking at the polls that said 2 out of 10 Hillary supporters would vote for McCain. They probably took that as just bitterness over their candidate loosing, they wouldn't actually VOTE for McCain in those numbers... would they? Maybe now with a woman on the ticket, they will. Scary if it does happen, but it might.
Obama needs to do something IMMEDIATELY to counter this. So does Hillary. She needs to become much more vocal and active in the Obama campaign to assure the number of her supporters who do cross over to McCain is minimal.
