They aren't conservatives or anything else but weak-minded authoritarian followers. They follow neocon ideas because these ideas have been marketed to them in a way that sounds "strong" and "manly." These are the same kinds of people who were the Hitler Youth beating up Jews, Stalin's NKVD lobotomizing dissidents, and good 50s patriots informing on their "communist" family, friends, and neighbors. If Chim-Chim gets his martial law, they will be our guards in the detention camps.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them.
