The talk today is going to focus on the secret meeting held between Obama and Clinton, John McCain and war with Iran.  David Bender will be Hal’s guest in HOUR ONE to discuss that meeting between Barack and Hillary and what it all might mean.  Could they have been talking about Hillary as the VP running mate?  Bender will shed some light on that issue.  David Bender is the host of Air America Radio’s “Politically Direct.” Previously he’s been the co-host of Ring of Fire with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Mike Papantonio and, most recently, was Rachel Maddow’s “political guru” on The Rachel Maddow Show.

Joining Hal in HOUR TWO to discuss everything McCain will be Joe Conason.  Conason is a journalist, author and political commentator, who usually holds liberal views. He writes a column for the weekly New York Observer newspaper, for Salon.com and has written a number of books, including Big Lies (2003), which addresses what he says are myths spread about liberals by conservatives.  In 2007, Conason published It Can Happen Here: Authoritarian Peril in the Age of Bush.

The THIRD HOUR of the show today will focus more on the possibility of war with Iran.  Dr Trita Parsi will be Hal’s guest. Trita Parsi is the author of Treacherous Alliance - The Secret Dealings of Iran, Israel and the United States.  He wrote his Doctoral thesis on Israeli-Iranian relations at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.  Treacherous Alliance is the first book directly addressing Israeli-Iranian relations, and their impact on US national interest, since 1987. It is the only book based on extensive interviews with decision-makers from all three countries.  Dr. Parsi has conducted more than 130 interviews with senior Israeli, Iranian and American decision-makers in all three countries. He is fluent in Persian/Farsi.

In Feb.2003, abou ta month before bush launched this debacle. Janeane was on as a guest.

We knew this was all bullshit, not because we were really insightful comedian/actor/writers, but because this stuff was being reported in the nooks and crannies of some news orginizations and was being highlighted online by bloggers.

There are a lot of politicians, media types, power brokers - members of the establishment that should be asking themselves how they sleep at night. There is no excuse for them not to have known better. We're talking about a war where hundreds of thousands of people have died, you don't make this decision, you don't form an opinion on this, without doing some homework first.
