Embarassing Announcements
I don't think it's just me. I think that the Bush Camp David statement on Friday really was strange.
The video clip is here at the washington post website. Watch through the initial chestpounding until the part where he um... loses.. his... uh... train of ... what was I saying?
As government announcements go, though, I think this one might top Bush's Friday follies:
Oops. I wonder what the "younger brother" surrendered about? Or if there is a younger brother?

Russia briefly seemed to have scored a strategic and public relations victory in its war with Chechen separatists when the pro-Kremlin Chechen government announced yesterday that the leader of the rebels, Doku Umarov, had surrendered. Mr. Umarov, a veteran commander hailed by his followers but branded a terrorist by Russia, replaced Abdul Khalim Saidullayev in June, when he was killed by Russian forces. Mr. Umarov’s surrender would be a severe blow to the separatists, but the pro-Kremlin Chechens quickly retracted their claim, saying they had accepted the surrender of Mr. Umarov’s younger brother. A rebel Web site mocked the confusion and said Mr. Umarov did not have a younger brother.
Oops. I wonder what the "younger brother" surrendered about? Or if there is a younger brother?
