News:
The Vatican is urging Catholics to forgo donations to Amnesty International after the group made changes to its policy on abortion. In response, Amnesty sought to clarify its position, stating its policy is:
to support the decriminalisation of abortion, to ensure women have access to health care when complications arise from abortion and to defend women's access to abortion, within reasonable gestational limits, when their health or human rights are in danger.
The Vatican called Amnesty's policy change a "pro-abortion about-turn."
Gotta love those compassionate Catholic values!
In the big scheme of things, leave it to the Vatican to choose one minor issue and blow it up to that's all Amnesty International does ... support abortion.

I consider myself more of an agnostic (I don't know and neither do you). I could care less what people believe, what and who they pray to. I certainly do not belittle someone because they choose to believe in god and have faith. The issue I have is having those beliefs forced upon me - those are the people who I call "hypocritical Christians" and belittle and not because of their belief in god but the screaming hypocrisy they exhibit. I find that it's not the majority of Christians who think the entire WORLD should be Christian, just the minority of Christians who believe that we should be a theocratic society instead of a democratic republic and that they have a god-given right to force their belief system on not just this country, but the world.

By AfricaBambaJune 15, 2007 - 12:39pmLet this sink in....
Cardinal Bernardin wrote:
If one contends, as we do, that the right of every foetus to be born should be protected by civil law and supported by civil consensus, then our moral, political, and economic responsibilities do not stop at the moment of birth.
Those who defend the right to life of the weakest among us must be equally visible in support of the quality of life of the powerless among us: the old and the young, the hungry and the homeless, the undocumented immigrant and the unemployed worker.
Such a quality of life posture translates into specific political and economic positions on tax policy, employment generation, welfare policy, nutrition and feeding programs, and health care.
Consistency means we cannot have it both ways. We cannot urge a compassionate society and vigorous public policy to protect the rights of the unborn and then argue that compassion and significant public programs on behalf of the needy undermine the moral fibre of the society or are beyond the proper scope of governmental responsibility.

Why is it stupid Jumpingjackoff? Because women are the ones who 1) carry the child 2) go through the EXCRUTIATING PAINS of childbirth 3) have to deal with postpartem 4) in the case of an unwanted pregnancy, they have to actually GO THROUGH THE ABORTION PROCEDURE which is humiliating, degrading, and just all around unpleasant but so are many things in this life that may be necessary for one reason or another, like say, CHILDBIRTH 5) in most cases, the women you would want to force to have a child when they want an abortion will MOST LIKELY BE RAISING THAT CHILD BY THEMSELVES!!!! And since the religious right only cares about kids up until the point where they are born, these women will most likely be raising these kids with little to no assistance. Yes, this is just what we want, more women and children in poverty to perpetuate the cycle. The vast majority of the homeless poor are women with children you fuck. This is why when women tell me that when I have a vagina I can decide the abortion debate I understand where they are coming from. This is a WOMEN'S HEALTH issue dumbass!!!

By Vicariously I LiveJune 14, 2007 - 4:40pmIt's a stupid argument
It's a stupid argument because:
1. It take a man and a women to create a baby
2. The parents don't "own" the baby.
3. It's a human being whether it has been born yet or not.
This is not a women's health issue it is a right to live issue. All of the issues you bring up don't give anyone the right to terminate a human life.

I ran out of soap, can you suck my balls? They need some cleaning.
And you are right about one thing, in certain cases this is a right to life issue. As in when the pregnancy poses a threat to the mother's life and even the woman's doctor recommends terminating the pregnancy. Should the woman have to risk dying for her pregnancy? What if she already has a couple of kids? Why should she have to risk orphaning them (or leaving them with a new baby brother or sister and a dead mom and grieving dad) because a bunch of reich wing christians decided their beliefs are tantamount to law? Let's ask Mitt Romney... oh wait, he referred to a woman getting an abortion that was doctor recommended due to her blood clots and likelihood of getting them as "Getting off easy...when other women are having their babies." She already has a few kids and so thinks that pursuing a pregnancy deemed lifethreatening to her would be a bad idea... but Mitt doesn't care, he's a christian politician which trumps doctors' opinions everytime.

Let's compare the hypocrisy between men and women:
Viagra comes out on the market and insurance companies immediately cover its costs for those who can't get and sustain a hard-on ... specifically older men whose wives are WELL past child-bearing age.
Birth Control comes on the market YEARS before Viagra and insurance companies are just NOW starting to cover its costs ... far be it from the industry to CARE about WOMEN'S REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH; far be it from the industry to CARE about PREVENTIVE CARE; far be it from the industry to CARE ENOUGH to COVER birth control so women don't HAVE to get abortions, ESPECIALLY those WHO CAN'T AFFORD THE $50+ A MONTH for the goddamned pills.

The truth of war. JJ I challenge you to look at the graphic pictures of people (including children) hurt by war if you dare.
The most common response is 'show me evidence these people were hurt by US bombs'. That is silly. It is teh last effort of someone trying to deny the ugly side of war. Well teh answer to that typical question is 'it doesn't matter'. You kmow innocent people died during our invasion. And later from violence caused by our invasion. Do you believe the innocent people in a building struck by a US bomb died 'more peacefully'? Come on. Even if each and everyone of these pictures were from another conflict they would still accurately represent the horror of being hit by a missile or an IED.

http://www.progressiveaustin.org/iraqivic.htm
I will be honest with you. I can't look at the pictures. I saw them briefly and that was enough. Then again I didn't need convincing of the horror. I recognized what it would be like well before we invaded.

I would expect this response from a MAN. Just remember - it is usually the MAN who ABANDONS the pregnant WOMAN; it is usually the MAN who BEATS said pregnant WOMAN; and said pregnant WOMAN does not want to raise a child in an abusive environment and doesn't want to do it ALONE.
When you have a vagina, a uterus and can get pregnant, THEN you'll have something to say.
I've stated this before and I'll say it again ... I hardly think MEN would want the GOVERNMENT to tell them what they can or cannot to do with THEIR bodies ... oh, no! Fucking hypocrite.

1. Since the WOMAN goes through the pregnancy, it IS a women's ONLY issue;
2. The embryo is unable to fend for itself, thus it IS part of the woman's body. A fetus is unable to fend for itself, thus it IS part of the woman's body.
Look, I'm certainly not advocating abortion as a method of birth control, nor am I advocating late-term abortions ... but I strongly believe that it is a woman's right to choose what is good and what is not good for her and her body, especially with something as personal as abortion.
How dare you insinuate that just because I don't follow YOUR way of thinking that I don't value life. What a tool you are. I do value life ... the already viable and living.

And you got your medical degree WHERE? Regent, perhaps?
No fetus is viable to live outside the mother before they reach 500 grams' weight. That's usually somewhere around 26 weeks.
Try FACTS. You'll get a lot further.

So you go ahead and do whatever you want with your wife and daughters BUT STAY OUT OF MY PERSONAL BUSINESS.
WHAT MY WIFE AND/OR DAUGHTERS DO WITH THEIR VAGINAS IS NONE OF YOUR FUCKING BUSINESS AND CERTAINLY NONE OF THE GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS.

Why mandate limits on self determination that causes no harm to others?
Should vasectomy be made illegal, since hundreds of thousands of sperm will be die a gruesome death as they are absorbed and excreted as urine?
The morning after pill is as blasphemous as abortion to the Vatican, so menstruation that flushes zygotes that are not fully bonded to the uterus should be punishable by imprisonment as well.
Should a woman unaware she is pregnant have an allergic reaction from a bee, or jellyfish sting that triggers her body to reject the tick tack sized growth clinging to her womb as if it were a cancerous parasite, she should be set to the inquisition as well right?
Let's cut to the chase. The point of organized religion is to control populations that were intentionally kept ignorant for the purpose of producing taxable product for royalty and feudal lords to trade for currency that was used to trade for luxury items, and maintain a warrior class to provide security for leisure time for the educated elite.
The remnants of the religious mafia still exist, but their days are numbered. The $100 WIFI PC NOTEBOOKS will make education a right not a privilege. When that's done only mutant retards or those on SOMA will pay any attention to people who pretend they communicate with supernatural beings described in books of dubious origin.
Until then the SCOUTS and the POTUS will be seen carousing with men in pointed hats at events like the RED MASS for propaganda purposes and to conspire to maintain their superior class status.
Sir Thomas More (the so-called man for all seasons) was Lord Chancellor of England from 1529 to 1532. He was one of the most cruel Inquisitors in history ranking right up there with Torquemada, Philip II, Bloody Mary, Judge Jeffreys etc., etc. Thomas More was made a saint of the Roman Catholic church in 1936 and on Reformation Day in the year 2000, the Pope made him the patron saint of politicians.
Formed in 2001, the St. Thomas More Society is an organization aimed at providing opportunities for lawyers, judges and government servants.
