News:
Public health advocates are desperately trying to raise funds to save 1-800-SUICIDE, the nation’s best-known suicide hotline, scheduled to be shut down at midnight tonight. The federal agency that funds the hotline says it decided to cut off its support; spokespeople for the hotline say that any government replacement can’t—or won’t—guarantee callers’ confidentiality, and that the government has owed them $266,00 for more than 2 years. Once the hotline goes dark, federal health officials hope to direct callers to their own replacement line, which will give them access to callers’ phone data. More information can be found at www.save1800suicide.org.
Savage fan of whom...
Yourself? That would be narcissism perfected. Make
savage love to yourself. Hourly. It's a dirty job, but
only you can do it.
Nice Red Herring sign-off, by the way. What do gun control
and a car accident have in common? Answer: Nothing.
Wanna play that game? Try this one on:
George W. Bush's presidency has cost tens of thousands
of American and foreign lives, while my Kimber 1911 .45 ACP, both of
my Winchester 12 ga. shotguns, and my .50 cal. black-
powder rifle have not.
Consider, too, that GW's crusades are matching, in
the number of Americans killed, the number killed in
the Twin Towers at the hands of terrorists.
Looks like Dubya is America's primary terrorist
concern -- also in the eyes of countless other
countries, if related polling means anything (insofar
as Dubya is seen as THE greatest threat to world peace).
Carpe fidelis!
