Civilian Lebanese Death Toll Mounts

News:

Westerners are fleeing Lebanon in the thousands as Israel’s bombardment of the country continues, in air and artillery attacks that have left as many as 200 Lebanese civilians dead. Israeli casualties are also on the rise, as Hezbollah continues to fire rockets and missiles deeper into Israel’s interior. Though Israeli commanders promise the incursion will last weeks and may soon involve ground forces, both Israel and Syria have signaled a willingness to negotiate.

No Peace

Isreal will not stop killing unless Hezbollah disarms according to a statement I heard on MSNBC this morning.

I find this to be a big problem. If someone is killing your relatives, it makes it that much harder for people to lay down their arms.

Let's hope peace wins out and these freaks stop killing eachother and learn to live near eachother.

It just makes me sick to think about that region of the world and proves to me that religion is the basis for all evil, not money, but religion.

but I'm afraid that the region would still be in turmoil, as it has almost always been. It's tribal stife that has cloaked itself in religion and is using it as another reason to see differences in each other so they can continue killing. There was a time when the religoius beliefs were similar, but those seeking to kill in order to gain power just used other reasons.

In WW2, most analysis indicates that only one bomb in a hundred landed within 200 yards of it's target. We do a lot better now, but these low level players don't have the new tech.

It's obvious. This is no secret. It's not even close to being a secret.

I'm just repeating what all the retired military are saying and HAVE been saying for quite some time now (only the retired ones are free to speak openly).

But to clarify, I was refering specifically to Troop Strength. We have the lowest number readily deployable ground forces than at any time I can remember.

that be a true statement during any type of major
conflict throughout time, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam.

which is why....

we have to keep the nazis, the gang members, the mental

mercenaries up to $4000 a month to take up the slack.

one of the hidden costs of 'privatizing' the war: we
pay through the nose for training soldiers, many of
whom are then hired away by civilian armies - like
blackwater - at a 300% pay increase. can't blame them
really....at least the private companies give their
guys the best equipment money can buy.
