I've been able to get neither Tuesday's nor Wednesday's podcasts. I'm successfully podcasting Randi, Thom, TYT, and other AAR shows. Is there a problem? Will someone from the show respond?

By daddio5251March 27, 2008 - 4:41amLast Week's Cocktail Recipes
Hi,
I asked Rachel for cocktail ideas for a party I'm throwing in April and got a fabulous answer. I've made a video to email my party guests and I thought you all would like to see it too. Here's the video.
Thanks!

What a great video. Both clever and informative--I will save it for the recipes. Love the light dash of politics.

By pinellasMarch 26, 2008 - 10:00pmSOLIDARITY, people!
...It's not just Lech Walesa's Polish labor union in the 80's! This year is about getting rid of the Bush-Cheney legacy in OUR White House. I listen on stream 6 hours after the show's over, so I can't participate in the debate with David Bender on the phone. I am listening to people saying something absolutely insane: that they won't vote for the democratic candidate if it's ends up not being 'their" candidate! This can't be happening!!! I've lived in France for 3 our their presidential elections, and that sentiment is right up there with people who think that Le Pen (the fascist guy) is still considered an opposition vote. But in 2002, when he made it to the general election, 80% of French people voted against him to reelect Chirac because they agreed that Le Pen isn't a solution. McCain is not a solution for progressives! I will agree that neither of our candidates are doing what they should (badgering McCain instead of each other), but we have to support either and BOTH of them at the very least as preferable to McCain. Not voting, or voting 3rd party, is a vote for McCain. We have to grow up and do what's right for the United States. Clinton or Obama, or Obama or Clinton, are better for the United States progressing than McCain. Don't let momentary stupidity from our candidates or the press make us lose sight of the objective: a Democrat in our White House come January.
Pardon my lack of paragraphs...I'm too steamed to worry about grammar at the moment.

By harrieMarch 27, 2008 - 8:59amFor padutchinfrance -
For padutchinfrance - somewhere in the archives is a call to either Sam Seder or David Bender(?) addressing the very same concern in such a thoughtful & persuasive way,I wish I'd thought to note exactly which show/date/time. I'll hafta see if I can find it, but the gist was that he said he understood well the passion over 'your' candidate, but he hoped that people would think about the young men & women - not to mention civilians - dying & suffering as we speak in Iraq & Afghanistan & Guantanamo - & even here @ home, when it's time to vote.....

By pinellasMarch 27, 2008 - 10:06amTwo comments
(1) Way to go, Hank in NM for the awesome, lengthy on-air shout-out and recognition!
(2) Referring to an ADM question from last week, the one about soap vs. detergent...
Rachel did a really nice job on it. Her comment about saponification, i.e., the chemical reaction used to make soap, and thinking it should be called "soaponification" made me laugh. My Organic II students last semester told me that the way they remember what happens in saponification is to call it "soaponification." Honestly, geek that I am, I never had thought of this play on words. Maybe because I think of saponification as "basic hydrolysis of esters," and not specifically as "making soap."
Regardless, I'm obviously in favor of as much chemistry on TRMS as the staff and listeners can stand!

RE: missing podcasts - if you go to the Air America Place link provided below, Bob sez they changed the iTunes podcast w/o telling him, but his link didn't come out right for me - so I simply went back to Rachel's Premium page & resubscribed to iTunes for the show from there & now I have it again = )

By harrieMarch 28, 2008 - 8:15amI think Rachel makes Olbermann moist...
...when she's on as a guest. I don't recall seeing other guests on his show with pages of prepared notes...so much more to add to the show than spontaneous opinion! Keith gives Rachel an opportunity to shine, and she runs with it! BTW...Rach, I know its your "TV look"...but you've looked stunning on your recent stints! Obviously being groomed for the inevitable TRMS on the TV Machine!!!
We're all anxiously waiting!!!!!

By LarrynowMarch 27, 2008 - 3:11pmGood discussion in 3rd hour with David Bender...
....David focused on the interesting question of, regardless of the candidates' relative merits, how the bitterness of the last several weeks has affected both Clinton and Obama supporters. This is a phenomenom I have observed in my own little (suburban) corner of the world, a polarization of discussion with Democratic-leaning friends and family as bad or worse as the split between right-wing and left-leaning friends and family. It's stunning, and dismaying.
Just as a side note to David's discussion, I like the caller's suggestion that Obama essentially ignore the negative attacks from Hillary other than simple acknowledgement that the accusation has been made and his current mild, slightly bemused denial, and instead of counterattacking, show his strength and forcefulness by challenging McCain over McCain's (currently ignored) gaffes. That would shift the focus back where it belongs. Thanks for the discussion.

By Juliet BravoMarch 27, 2008 - 6:33pmWhat David fails to address
There are those of us - 'Clintonistas' as Ed Schultz calls us - who are so personally bruised by the Obama supporters venom - and the presses pathological need to give Obama a free ride no matter his flaws that we won't think of voting for Obama.
There is this madness born of white guilt that has brought us the 527 who's initials spell the 'c' word, Keith Olbermann calling the Clinton campaign like the KKK, Randi Rhodes mocking the Clintons' hurt over Schuster's insults, Chris Matthews saying that Hillary won her senate seat because here hubband 'fooled around', David talking over the caller today who wanted to talk about Hillary being a 'fighter.... you have alienated us as you dispise our point of view. What if your messiah Obama were subjected to this type of public humilliation?
What if your messiah Obama had had to endure that? Ferraro's remark (true in my view) gave you all license again to rip open Hillary. Why didn't you go on for weeks about Wright's hate-speech? Why didn't you point out that Obama - ever manipulative of white guilt - didn't address that reality - but turned this real character flaw into another prick at the race issue - an issue that isn't the hallmark of this campaign - rather sexism - that Obama encourages by his silence - is the vicious core the his success.
I was an orginal Air American - you have made it clear that I no longer fit that mold. This is now just another 'Daily Kos'.

This is not in the league of mixed up canons or nuclear missile parts, but my mother had a friend who once ordered a brazier from a department store and got a brassiere (or vice versa).
