The Rachel Maddow Show *hearts* democracy! So if you live in New Hampshire go exercise your civic duty-- vote.
Today's show is going to be co-hosted by Rachel and political guru David Bender, Rachel will host the first hour and David will host the second hour when he'll be taking your calls.
Air America's New Hampshire Election Night Special, hosted by David Bender and a slew of your favorite hosts, will continue from 8 pm-12am ET.
MENTIONED ON TODAY'S SHOW
If you don't believe John Edwards when he says that if you want health insurance or a responsible energy policy or a fair tax plan then you cannot give the lobbyists a seat ot the table, if you do not believe that statement? Check out this guy. He will spend $60 million dollars in the next 11 months to make sure to don't any of the things I just mentioned.

Kent Jones
I'm a loyal listener...and watch the TV machine whenever Rachel imparts her wisdom -- even though sometimes I have to see Chris Matthews!
What I'm wondering is -- Where is Kent Jones??? I miss him so much...hopefully he is not gone, his "Kent Jones Now" is needed!
Keep up the good work,
Maxy

By jcontiJanuary 8, 2008 - 7:34pmAnother Day, Another Podcast Problem
As usual, it's the next day and last night's The Rachel Maddow Show podcast doesn't work and isn't on the unofficial site.
I appreciate Bob's work to fill the gaps, but it is wrong for Air America to be charge for a premium service then rely on an underpaid part-timer from a fansite to cover for a broken system.
It's also wrong for Air America staff and management has remained silent about this. There should be a message on the front page, instead of info buried in blogs.
At the very least paying customers deserve an easy to find official explanation and apology from management for what is going on. Ethically we should be getting what we paid for.
Air America should stop taking money for premium subscriptions until this is fixed. This is the sort of behavior would be bad from mainstream media; it's vile for the insurgent left radio network.
And it seems kind of odd that the Rachel Maddow staff can't speak to power on this issue.

By softdogJanuary 9, 2008 - 9:50amI don't know who decides on David Bender
subbing, and I know that Rachel has said, on the air, that she likes him (and it sounded like she meant it).
Well, he may be a nice enough guy (the Hussein thing was good) but I don't think his analysis/independent-mindedness is in any way up to Rachel's and I think we could do better. One thing that really irritated me is that he did not challenge one caller on any of these three very debatable, offensive and in one case just plain wrong points:
1. That it's axiomatic that sexism is worse than racism these days. (Yeah, I'm paraphrasing but I stand by the substance.)
2. That "we [(white [?]) women] have come so far" that the young'uns just have no appreciation for past struggles and what it would mean to have a woman president and that's why they support Obama and not Hillary. (Some truth to the middle part about no (not enough) appreciation etc. The rest is pretty much complete crap.)
3. That Rachel is "a big Hillary supporter."
There's got to be somebody better. Didn't I hear that Mark Riley was going to be available soon, or is now? And I know that he even likes the Clintons (or at least liked Bill as POTUS), but I also know that he's super smart and would be fair. And would that woman even have had the gall/ignorance to have said that if he were hosting? About even odds, I guess, considering the above.
