Today's Show: Wednesday, September 13, 2006
Who leaked the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame to the press? It was one of Washington's unsolved mysteries until Michael Isikoff and David Corn blew the lid off that story with their explosive new book, Hubris: the Inside Story of Spin, Scandal and the Selling of the Iraq War. We talk to our old pal Isikoff about the book, and about the role that classic Washington cover-up played in the run-up to the Iraq War.
Congress and the Justice Department are sniffing around yet another a leak investigation – but this one is straight from the business pages. Business Week's Lorraine Wollert talks to us about the possibly illegal attempts to discover the source of news leaks from within computer giant Hewlett-Packard that led HP to announce yesterday that its chairwoman, Patricia Dunn, will step down in January.
FRONT PAGE
Results are in from yesterday's primaries in nine states and DC. The Republican establishment helped Rhode Island Senator Lincoln Chafee beat his unelectably far right challenger, Steve Laffey, even though Chafee has a tendency to stray from the Bush orthodoxy. They figure a moderate Republican will be harder for the Democrats to beat--and they're right.
Bush Administration lies have been sounding particularly pathetic lately. Listen to Tony Snow and his lame attempt to establish the "relationship" between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda.

What is wrong with the stream??!!??
I tuned in this AM with Real Player to the stream and instead of Mark's show I get some right-wing, fundi, anti-choice idiot talking about saving fetuses!!! After going to the AAR website, and signing in I did finally get the correct stream, but why did this change? I have had the same link for months, if not years?
this is the old stream link that now hooks up to the fundi :
http://play.rbn.com/?url=airam/airam/live/live.rm
This is the link to the correct stream:

...with the stream path I've been using for at least a year now. How disgusting to have to listen to even a minute of that Christio-fundo crap. Ugh. I need to take another shower.
Thanks for including the new link.

I much prefer being able to use the RealPlayer stand-alone player rather than having to open a browser window for the stream. I've been using that old link since the beginning, and was mighty pissed off when it suddenly cut out last night and then came back as an alien language this morning.

Since AAR Programing is using a different Satelite Service. Different Streaming Format changes have occured again, for the Live Radio Link.
XM, the old service, uses the Latest Real Player, that is the reason for the earlier, updated Real Player Link.
Sirius, AAR an original Satelite Member, and now returning to Sirius with the new programming change. Sirius allows you all to use the Windows Media Player link, that I first gave all of you last year.
So now we all learned something, XM uses "Real" media format, "Sirius" uses "Windows" media format.
If you erased the short cut I had you make or if you never made a short cut, here is the Media Player link:

Bomar ....don't think your info is correct. The new morning show, the Young Turks have posted about not being on Sirius after they move to AAR and XM on the 18th.
Chances are the latest link change has to do with separating the NY 1600 AM lineup from the AAR lineup.

Hey bomar? AAR is still on Realplayer the only differance is at the end. The one you gave me was 160:00, the earler post from Athena1955 180:00.

By bomar75September 13, 2006 - 9:12amRachel, I know you like to pal around with Isikoff
but what about calling Isikoff to account for his failure to expose any of this in the mainstream press -- until he could make money on it with a book...
And why does he say nothing about the continuing lies when he appears as a pundit on Fox and MSGOP shows?
Where was Isikoff when the press needed to expose these things, when there was a chance to head them off.

By skiddlybopSeptember 13, 2006 - 7:43amisikoff yet?
right again skiddly, and where was he during the criminal investigation? Also -- what's the proof that armitage is only guilty of an innocent little slip of the tongue? We're suppposed to buy the story that, as a member of the same administation that was pushing for war, he just happened to get gossipy with reporters in a way that gave rove 'n co ammunition to go after the wilsons? I think that is kind of a lame story, really. I hope the judge doesn't buy it.

Heard Rachel's clip from Tony Snow this morning. He didn't want to get into the "vagaries" of the Senate Intelligence Committee's report. Note a dictionary definition of "vagary": "An extravagant or erratic notion or action." Yep, those Senators dragged their feet for 5 years only to pump out a report full of extravagant or erratic notions!

By psnyderSeptember 13, 2006 - 8:29amNew Time?
The thing I hate (yes hate) most about the AAR 'suits' is the fact that they never post anything online about their upcoming changes. And if I only catch part of the info on-air, I'm left wondering 'WTF'...
Rachel's moving to a new time? When? What time? Will the "Young Turks" (I hate them already) be on 1600 here in NY? Or just on the streaming, XM versions of AAR?
It's bad enough being yanked around by the right-wing driven media (i.e., everyone else) but to also be yanked around by AAR is hideous beyond belief.

Unfortunately I'd have to change my entire lifestyle to listen to the radio between 6:00 and 8:00 pm Eastern, so it is with great sadness that I bid you and Kent good bye. Yours was the only show on AAR that was worth listening to, imo. Good luck.

By cincyflygrrlSeptember 13, 2006 - 9:09amHere is something to think about?:
What do we want in "The Rachel Maddow"'s, new show. "How can we, her bloggers, shape her discussions?", "What influence do we, her bloggers, have?"
I like Rachel, I want to see her grab for the story, independent of popularity, I hope you all agree, remember support the
"Underdog".
""{{ .. Rachel we will support you, "What would UnderDog Do?" .. }}""
Rachel has never helped an alien race from trying to conquer the earth, "What can other Political Cultures say about these facts?; What can those who can don't?; Who actually can talk about what happened?
I trust you, Go for it, I will back you all the way Rachel, I will try your ideas, that is till I find something better ... Hey, I am an American. To bad America is not Taoist, if America became Taoist, Life would be simplified.
But you must admitt "Ming", did know how to run a planet.

I haven't posted any chem-related items in awhile, so I figured I was overdue. For your viewing (and possibly assembling) pleasure: Balloon Molecules!
Apparently, more details are given on the German version of this website than the English, but I wouldn't know (not speaking German myself). The gallery is a hoot, and the 10 hours to assemble DNA from balloons is mighty impressive.
Cheers!
