Time to Make McCain Play Defense
The man behind the (most recent) disgusting ad attempting to smear Obama as a terrorist has been exposed, and the ad itself is beneath contempt. But the media will keep showing it and talking about it, feeding on fears some people may have.
For months, I have been asking when McCain will have to explain his friendship with convicted Watergate felon G. Gordon Liddy, a longtime McCain donor who once plotted to murder a journalist and has openly talked about the best ways to kill government agents. The McCain-Liddy connection is much stronger and better documented than the phantom Obama-Ayers ties. Liddy has described McCain as “a good, personal friend.” McCain has told Liddy he is “proud” of him.
Why does a man convicted in one of the most notorious crimes in American history count John McCain as a good, personal friend? Why is McCain “proud” of this convicted felon who has advocated violence against the government?
The media briefly took notice of the McCain-Liddy relationship, but most Americans have heard nothing about this. The best way to change this is for someone to run an ad that the media can ponder and re-play, as it is currently doing with the Ayers ad. Here’s one that looks pretty good (I’d change the title and reconsider the Hitler stuff, but the clip itself is pretty good–maybe needs some slight tweaking–perhaps add in Liddy’s “good, personal friend” quote.)
If a McCain-Liddy ad hit the airwaves, would CNN and MSNBC start running it? If not, they’d look pretty hypcritical given the way they are giving play to the Ayers ad.

Bite the heads off them rats
Good ole G Gordon.
Redeemed but not forgotten. Some of us still remember you, you scary sumbitch!
And please let's not forget that many of his colleagues served in rayguns, daddys' and shrubs administrations.

By justintymeAugust 26, 2008 - 3:02pmHe is a real piece of work, and as the poster said, most people
haven't even heard of the McCain-Liddy connection. I know this is certainly the first time I heard of it. He is like so many of the other repub scum, turning up time after time, banished from one administration or sent to jail, only to be resurrected to perform dirty tricks for the next repub scum than needs to steal an election.

I wrote the piece and am hoping to get this circulated more broadly...only found out about this connection by doing some research on the FEC's website to see what shady characters have given $ to McCain...I'm sure there are more out there as well. It's frustrating that this isn't getting more attention....as I say, maybe someone can run an ad?

By cedelsonAugust 26, 2008 - 3:30pmI would think that Moveon.org would be fascinated by this
They are apparently already protesting the fact that AP's top political editor applied for a position with the McCain campaign earlier this year, and wrote an encouraging letter to Karl Rove in 2004, telling him to "keep up the fight".

It's still 69 days until the election. By that time, the repube platform will be reduced to:

By Pookie2112August 27, 2008 - 11:45amOf course, if the problem is
Of course, if the problem is friction, no matter how long the underwear, the style doesn't seem to deal with it--especially the women's style.
If the problem is access, then you need to have the individual sew him/herself into his/her underwear every day. But then, you'd need a bladder the size of a football.
