What that means is that all men are created equally in the sight of GOD. But it's obvious when left to ourselves, we level out to our level of competency and intelligence. Hence, Achievers versus losers.
They have both risen to levels that aren't merited by their intelligence, competence or work ethic.
Bush got into prestigious Ivy League schools despite a poor academic record that would have disqualified other less well-connected applicants. His father got him in, where he promptly proved to be a below-average C student.
Bush then got into the Texas Air National Guard ahead of many other more qualified applicants, once again with the help of his father. He promptly followed his pattern of being an underacheiver, going AWOL and failing to complete his military committment according to credible reports.
He then went on to start up several businesses with the help of his father and father's friends. Each one failed miserably, requiring bailouts by father and friends once again. George W. Bush---consistent failure and underacheiver, put in positions of power not due to ability, but family connections.
McCain was the son of a four star admiral, as was his father. He graduated 894 out of 899 students in his class at Annapolis, a dismal academic record that should have consigned him to poor assignments in the Navy. Instead, be became a fighter pilot, promptly destroying at least 4 aircraft in the process. Implicated in the official Navy report as being a possible cause of a tragic fire that killed 130 of his shipmates on the USS Forrestal, he avoided disciplinary action only because of the actions of his admiral father, and his shootdown over North Vietnam. After his release from the prison camp, he went into politics, divorcing one wife after having an affair with a rich heiress that he later married. John McCain---consistent failure and underacheiver, put in positions of power not due to ability, but family connections.
So it can be demonstrated that connections can get one to a level otherwise beyond one's intelligence or competence. Is that any different that any other human society in the history of man? Are not some always luckier?
All who are connected may get a pass to the top, but not all at the top got there through connections. The biggest winners in a capitalistic society are often those who did not get there purely through connects. People like Bill Gates and Sam Walton.
And let's be honest, politics has gotten ugly to the point that it's not always attracting the finest America has to offer. Can you imagine what would happen to the likes of JFK or Teddy Roosevelt in the modern media? You'd see story after story of marital infidelity or possible war crimes, respectively. They'd be crucified and some meathead would be elected instead.
To say that McCain wrecked 4 planes is a completely open ended statement without clarifying the circumstances. How many did Chuck Yeagar wreck? Maybe he was an unfit flyer as well (at least according to the criteria liberals have apparently decided to use).
And it's just as ridiculous to judge McCain as a politician based on his affair/divorce as it was to judge Clinton's political prowess based on whether or not he was getting blowjobs in the oval office. In other words you are doing the same types of smearing here that you claim to hate Republicans for doing to Clinton (or other Democrats).
And as for the Forrestal thing, you are bringing out something that's unclear and murky at best. It's a pretty good sign for McCain that this is the best the Dems can come up with.

repubs are acheivers and hard workers, yet both Bush and McCain are just the opposite. They are from the elite ruling class, and have absolutely no clue about things average people deal with every day: finding and keeping a job, paying bills, buying groceries, keeping the car running, paying a mortgage. They got where they were ONLY because of family connections, not because of any intelligence or hard work. They are silver spoon underacheivers extraordinaire.
Yeager was a test pilot, and yet I don't believe he crashed anywhere near as many planes in a much longer and more dangerous career than McCain. McCain's Navy career was advanced solely by his father's influence, not by any demonstrated competency or ability.
McCain is judged on his divorce because of the repub party's "family values". If the tables were reversed, and Obama had divorced his disfigured wife to marry a rich heiress he had been screwing while he was still married, it would be a 24/7 news story that would make the Rev. Wright story seem like an insignificant mosquito bite. The saying "live by the sword, die by the sword" is taking repubs down left and right, and McCain is no better than a lot of those others. He's getting a free pass on this.
The Forrestal is also something that needs more attention. If if was ok for repubs to smear Kerry with false allegations about his Vietnam service, it should be perfectly acceptable for dems to question McCain's actions in this incident.
Dems have far more than that to use against McCain. He is obviously in failing mental health, with numerous gaffes and mistakes, not to mention bald-faced lies. His famous temper and lack of sound judgement has even repub colleagues in the Senate, who have known him for years, saying he is not a good choice for the White House. His judgement is poor at best, his knowledge on things such as the economy is weak. I thought repubs could never come up with someone even worse than Bush, but I underestimated their resourcefulness. Crash McGrandpa is at least as dumb as Bush, with an even more unstable personality. The world should be very, very afraid.
I'm surprised. I would have thought that most here would have thought just about anyone including Hitler reincarnate would be better than Bush. I like McCain. He has a lot of admirable qualities. And I'm pretty ok with his temper. To me that just makes him more open. Every man has a temper, just some pretend to be sensitive pony-tail wearing types so they can conform to what society tells them is socially acceptable.
Hey, what's up with Franken and this crap about Coleman's apartment in D.C.? Again, the best they could come up with is a stretched bit of truth that borders on lies? Great candidate there.
being one of Bush's biggest supporters was going to hurt him with voters. The apartment thing is true, but I prefer Al to run on actual issues, as he is doing 95% of the time. When he does, he makes Norm look like the clueless Bush follower that he is.
I admired McCain in 2000, but that is not the McCain of 2008. The one we see today sold his soul to get the nomination, despite the fact he had to kiss the asses of all the people who burned him so badly in 2000, from the Bush crime family to religious nuts like Dobson and Falwell.
No, nothing to admire there anymore. And as for the temper, the last person I want to be controlling the world's largest nuclear arsenal is a guy who can't even control his temper. If I want an ill-tempered person with their finger on the button, I'm sure there are plenty of spoiled brats in a local kindergarten that can fill the bill.
Again, the best they could come up with is a stretched bit of truth that borders on lies? Great candidate there.

LANSING, Mich. -- AARP, the national advocacy group for older Americans, is being accused of age discrimination.
Bonita Brady, a 63-year-old from Michigan, says the group passed her over for a series of jobs because she was too old, despite excellent job reviews.
She joined AARP in Chicago in 1996 as a health representative. She also worked for AARP in Washington before moving to the Lansing office in 2007.
Brady says she lost her job in a reorganization and was passed over for nine vacancies. She sued last week in federal court in Michigan and is seeking more than $25,000.
A message seeking comment was left with AARP lawyer Julie Badel in Chicago.
Doctors have successfully managed to implant McSame's colostomy bag into his left jowl. There's a good chance that sometimes he's literally talking shit.
Is that some sort of joke? You really are some kinda dumbass whose efforts at comedy really show you level of intelligence. How old are you morons anyway? My guess is 19-25.
Nope, that's actually the truth. You can monitor his bowel movements by measuring the swelling on the left side of his face. It's supposed to be a very helpful tool for people who have no feeling in their nether regions.
Thank goodness that McSame's $48,000 a year that he receives in disability payments from the VA is going towards cutting edge medical procedures.
Chicken Hawkes, everytime you open your mouth you tell us more and more of your background. What a dumdass you are. I'm guessing you are probably from Asbery Park, New Jersey or somewhere in the hoods of rust belt, Ohio.
with a much higher standard of living than here. America has sunk to 37th in standard of living in the last 30 years of this right wing crap. Of course the sheeple dont care. They will work for $2 an hour, live in a cardboard box and eat canned soup to serve their wealthy masters.
insults for this post, let them fly, but I must remind Hillary supporters that their wonderful "New Kind of Democrat" ex-prez and wife fully participated in that destruction of the standard of living through their anti-labor, anti-middle class corporatism.
I hope you pay your employees better than that, btw.
Wow! Looks like the messiah is in Free fall as I predicted. Latest Zogby poll of likely voters says McCain 47% and the messiah 41%. You guys can't win for being so stupid!
I understand you being near suicide because your messiah (Osama....re....Obama....er whatever his name is) has no chance of winning and is in freefall. I was pointing out facts that may be stupid to you. And you follow that with an assinine statement about Jesus. What a moron. Grow up, junior.
A lot can happen between now and November 4th, i.e.: People will finally get a clue as to what a lying sack of shit McSame is.

1.) America is by far the best nation of people on this earth, it is just our government that sucks shit. We will eventually catch up to the rest of the world's knowledge of the latter.
2.) A question for "pro-lifers." Suppose we try to execute a citizen convicted by a "jury of her peers," when the evidence that is first allowed and then presented removes any "reasonable doubt" of the person's innocence. Now let's suppose we succeed in killing her cerebral cortex, but not her heart or her ability to breath. Now we have created a Terry Chiavo (sp? too lazy to look it up) that would require artificial nutrition to for her to survive.
Should we now keep her alive indefinitely? If you think she still deserves to be executed, would you suggest just letting her starve to death, or how would you recommend that we kill her?
My alternative question is for those against capital punishment. If we decide not to complete the execution, would you still recommend we let her starve to death?
America is a bunch of uneducated, fat, lazy, idiots who could not even care enough about their country to vote. America is a bunch of superstitious, ignorant people who believe in a sky fairy that will save them from their fright. America is a bunch of pill popping, racists who are gun nuts. This country is finished. And the fault is all our own.
Suppose you lived in a country in which good paying jobs achievable by the level of public education available were sent to another country. Now suppose that you now don't make enough money to provide the college education your children will require to achieve good paying white collar jobs that are also leaving the country.
How much incentive does a child in a low wage family have to complete even a highschool education if his college prospects don't exist, and she can earn a GED equivalent and still get the same crappy job that her former schoolmates will qualify for even though they stayed in highschool?
Religion is the poor man's opiate. The more poor men, the more religion.
For those who are less religiously inclined or when religion is ineffective, there are several pharmaceuticals commercial after commercial after commercial for you to choose to ask your doctor about if you have one. If not, there are programs available to get you short term free samples to get you hooked.
Now suppose you lived in a country that is suppose to be a democratic republic, but you find that only two parties are allowed the media stage, and third parties are excluded from corporate media debates. On top of that, you have left and rightwing lemmings telling us someone is not electable, though we are capable of voting for them, but as usual, these conformists still buy into the two party dictatorship. how much incentive does an independent have to vote in rigged elections?
Racism is not just indigenous to this nation, but exists in every nation. If it is not racism, we can always find a reason to not get along with our neighbor, thus tribal wars among blacks in Africa long after the white boys left. Racism is like masturbation, 99% of all people do it and 1% lie about it.
As far as Americans and gun-nuttiness goes, look at the government we have. Do you blame them?
I agree that we have a child obesity problem, and this is at least in part, due to the laziness of some parents. Shutting up the kid with a mouthful of food, especially the over-processed, high caloric-dense corporate foods easily and cheaply available is a bad idea. We have an adult obesity problem for similar reasons.
Now the claim you made is it is our fault, but I would ask specifically who is at fault? I suggest that the same government wants us to be fat, stupid and submissive. The two parties only want their constituencies to vote. It is their corporate-only policies that have made the prospect of achieving the American dream overhwhelming and futile in many cases. Not everyone is the little engine that could, especially when your government is enlarging the hill you need to climb, while giving big corp and their personal portfolios a downhill glide.
I wont argue that there are no fat, lazy Americans. I will argue that there are more than there should be.
With an attitude like yours, I almost want to agree.
But seeing as to how you think the country is finished, there really is no reason for you to continue participate in the politicis of something that you believe cannot be fixed. You can leave now, and spare us all your defeatist delusions... ____________________ "We can bomb the world to pieces, but we can't bomb it into peace."

The child who will one day be President cannot be sheltered in a wealthy cocoon, lest they be made lacking in perspective of the reality of those who are not. Also, children who know nothing but their parent's military base upbringing, will have little regard or comprehension of the vast civilian underlayment that that President will be asked to grasp an understanding of, and to maintain intact, without permanent military exploitation to its pristine and vulnerable details.

James Dale Guckert (born 1957) a conservative columnist who worked under the pseudonym Jeff Gannon as a White House reporter between 2003 and 2005 , representing the virtual organization Talon News. Gannon first gained national attention during a presidential press conference on January 26, 2005, when he asked United States President George W. Bush a question that some in the press corps considered "so friendly it might have been planted."[1] Gannon stated that this question was not meant to be friendly, but to expose the hypocrisy of the left.[citation needed]
Gannon routinely obtained daily passes to White House briefings, attending four Bush press conferences and appearing regularly at White House press briefings. Although he did not qualify for a Congressional press pass, Gannon was given daily passes to White House press briefings "after supplying his real name, date of birth and Social Security number."[2] Gannon came under public scrutiny for his lack of a journalistic background prior to his work with Talon[3][4] and his involvement with various homosexual escort service websites using the professional name "Bulldog". Gannon resigned from Talon News on February 8, 2005. Continuing to use the name Gannon, he has since created his own official homepage and worked for a time as a columnist for the Washington Blade newspaper, where he admitted to being gay after he was outed as a homosexual prostitute.[5]
Currently, Gannon operates JeffGannon.com, a blog where he criticizes those who exposed him, the "Old" Media and the "Angry" Gay Left, for what he promotes as a double standard."[6] He recently published a book titled, The Great Media War.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.
The reversal follows a month of attacks by McCain, who has questioned Obama's experience, criticized his opposition to most new offshore oil drilling and mocked his overseas trip.
The poll was taken Thursday through Saturday as Obama wrapped up a weeklong vacation in Hawaii that ceded the political spotlight to McCain, who seized on Russia's invasion of Georgia to emphasize his foreign policy views.
"There is no doubt the campaign to discredit Obama is paying off for McCain right now," pollster John Zogby said. "This is a significant ebb for Obama."
Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Email to a FriendAdvertisementThe Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows Barack Obama attracting 45% of the vote while John McCain earns 42%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 46% (see recent daily results). Tracking Polls are released at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time each day.

By nonexistent manAugust 19, 2008 - 10:07pmLook at it this way.
